About Us

The Black American Heritage Association of NYC (BAHA NYC), officially incorporated in New York State as Black American Heritage Association of NY, Inc., brings together Soulaan, American Indian, Black American Freedmen, Foundational Black Americans, and American Descendants of Slavery to celebrate, preserve, and strengthen Black American cultural heritage.

Founded by Lynette Bradley, BAHA NYC was created to build a more connected community where Black Americans can take pride in our roots, share our traditions, preserve our history, and strengthen relationships across generations. We believe our heritage lives in the stories we tell, the customs we carry forward, and the experiences we share with one another.

Through cultural events, educational programming, community initiatives, and opportunities for involvement, BAHA NYC is creating spaces where our traditions can be celebrated and passed forward. We want younger generations to discover their heritage, older generations to share their knowledge, and members to build meaningful connections that extend beyond a single gathering.

As an officially incorporated organization, BAHA NYC is building for the future. We invite members, volunteers, and community collaborators to contribute their ideas, talents, and experiences as we develop cultural events, community programming, and new traditions created by us and for us.

Together, we can honor the generations who came before us, celebrate who we are today, and create traditions that future generations of Black Americans can proudly carry forward.
